Liverpool ‘want to sign’ the same Bundesliga talent as Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window

According to sources, Liverpool have joined Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to recruit Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone next month. Kone was reported to be a target for the Reds over the summer, but he stayed in Germany as Jurgen Klopp decided to explore elsewhere.

Despite missing a significant portion of the season due to injury and suspension, Kone has continued to shine in the Bundesliga this season. According to Rudy Galetti, Liverpool have revived their interest in the 22-year-old ahead of the January transfer season as a result of his impressive midfield performances.

Despite bringing in Alexis MacAllister, Dominic Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch, the Reds failed to sign a quality defensive midfielder in the summer. Wataru Endo has been employed in a holding role in recent weeks, but the position still has room for improvement, with a move for Kone providing the ideal option.

However, Liverpool will not be the only club interested in signing Kone next month, with PSG also keeping a close eye on his growth. According to the report, he is one of several names being considered in the French city as Luis Enrique wants to strengthen his midfield ranks in the winter market.

Tottenham are also thought to be interested in Kone, with Ange Postecoglou looking for reinforcements to help his injury-plagued squad. The north Londoners are currently dealing with a significant number of injuries and may use some extra bodies to assist them out in the second half of the season.

When the bidding opens next month, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool or any other team can persuade Monchengladbach to sell Kone. He is still under contract with his current employers until the summer of 2026, implying that a large number of money will be necessary to secure his services.

Kone is also reportedly being tracked by PSG and Tottenham

PSG and Tottenham are also said to be interested in Kone.

Kone has already expressed his admiration for Liverpool, with his former coach Reda Bekhti revealing earlier this year that he once wore a Reds jersey during a tryout. “It would be especially satisfying for Manu,” Bekhti, a former academy trainer at Paris FC, remarked. I recall him wearing a Liverpool jersey during his trial at Paris FC because the club is his favorite.

“Liverpool would be a great next step for him and a great career move.” He would be able to prove himself in the Premier League while playing for one of England’s most popular clubs. In such an environment, he could only advance and demonstrate his talent.
