Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken out regarding Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority share in the club. The Dutch manager is sure that the Red Devils will improve under the new ownership structure.
As reported by The Guardian, Ten Hag told reporters:
“I’ve been focused on the game[s] so far, so I said, ‘No, in this moment, I don’t want distractions.'” But there will be time for this in the following days and weeks, and then I’ll know more.”
He went on to say:
“But I think it’s a very positive thing.” We are very excited to be working together. INEOS wants to collaborate with me in this structure, and I want to collaborate with them. Because my schedule is so tight, I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with them yet, but it will come.”
The former Ajax executive went on to say:
“In other clubs, they have experience; in other sports, they have a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge about performance.” So I’m looking forward to seeing how they can contribute, which I’m confident they can. Football is a highly complicated sport, especially at the top, so I’m confident they’ll contribute and help us reach our lofty goals.”
On Christmas Eve, it was revealed that Sir Ratcliffe had purchased 25% of Manchester United’s shares and that INEOS would be in charge of football operations (via Fabrizio Romano).
