Manchester United fell to Nottingham Forest 2-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday, their 14th defeat of the season.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute at the City Ground.

United fell behind to Nicolas Dominguez’s opener in the 64th minute, but Marcus Rashford equalized in the 78th.

That superb work, however, was undone when Forest counterattacked and Gibbs-White scored from the edge of the area.

United has lost nine of its previous 20 league games and has not won in four road games. It was ranked seventh on the list.

It beat Aston Villa on Tuesday, but the recent defeat exemplified Ten Hag’s team’s inconsistency.

United has already been eliminated from the Champions League and the League Cup and is fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League. It is nine points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and has played one extra game.

Forest, however, has rapidly rediscovered form under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who has led the squad to back-to-back wins during the Christmas holidays against Newcastle and United.

Forest has moved up to 15th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
