Anthony Elanga rubs salt in Erik ten Hag’s wounds by revealing his departure from Old Trafford

After Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 triumph over the Red Devils, former Manchester United player Anthony Elanga had some strong comments to say.

The Midlands team won 2-1 at the City Ground, and the Swedish winger was outstanding. Elanga was present to set up Morgan Gibbs-White for the game-winning goal, which came after goals from Marcus Rashford and Nicolas Dominguez.

As of right now, Elanga has four goals and six assists on his record since joining Forest in the summer. The former United academy graduate says the victory over his former employers was a motivating element for him, and he says his brilliant form justified his departure following a trying time at Old Trafford.

“Playing five or ten minutes, then not playing for ten games, I’d be in-and-out, in-and-out, wasn’t easy for me last season,” he said to BBC Sport. I just kept my composure.

“My family was there for me, and it has been tough not to be on the squad. I wanted to show that, listen, I can play at a high level, so this game was kind of personal to me.

“I simply want to thank Nottingham Forest for introducing me. I made an effort to set aside my feelings and act as professionally as possible before the game. Not only did I perform well today, but the entire squad did as well.

“It was especially meaningful to help Morgan because it puts me in double digits.” I don’t think I scored well last year. I want to keep working hard and pushing myself because I feel like the sky is the limit, especially now that I have four goals and six assists.

After replacing Steve Cooper at the City Ground, Nuno Espirito Santo has won two of his first three games in charge of Forest, including the victory over United.

Elanga went on to say, “We had a game plan that we wanted to stick by and obviously Nuno and the rest of the staff have come in and brought a sense of calmness to the club,” in explaining how Forest defeated the Red Devils. We followed the strategy, each and every one of us performed exceptionally, we put in a lot of effort, and in the end, we achieved the desired outcome.
