Anthony Elanga used Manchester United struggles to reveal his Man Utd transfer remark

Anthony Elanga starred for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 victory over Manchester United, and he had some choice words after the game.

The Swedish winger shone in the Midlands side’s 2-1 triumph at the City Ground. Following goals from Nicolas Dominguez and Marcus Rashford, Elanga was on hand to set up Morgan Gibbs-White for the game-winning goal.

Since joining Forest in the summer, Elanga has four goals and six assists. The former United academy graduate thinks his brilliant form justified his departure following a difficult period at Old Trafford, and that the victory over his previous club was a motivating element for him.

“Last season wasn’t easy for me because I’d play five or 10 minutes, then I wouldn’t play for 10 games, I’d be in-and-out, in-and-out,” he said in an interview with BBC Sport. “I simply kept going.

“I had my family behind me; it was difficult when I wasn’t even in the squad.” This game was really personal for me because I wanted to show to myself that…listen, I can play at a high level.

“All I can say is thank you to Nottingham Forest for bringing me in.” Before the game, I attempted to keep my emotions at bay and remain as professional as possible. Today, not only did I perform well, but the entire team did.

“It was a special assist for Morgan because it puts me in double figures.” I don’t recall scoring last year. Now that I have four goals and six assists, all I want to do is keep pushing and working hard because I believe the sky is the limit.”

Forest’s victory over United is yet another stunning result for new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who has won two of his first three games since taking over for Steve Cooper at the City Ground.

Elanga explained how Forest defeated the Red Devils, saying, “We had a game plan that we wanted to stick to, and obviously Nuno and the rest of the staff have come in and brought a sense of calm to the club.” We kept to the game plan, everyone of us performed exceptionally well, we worked hard, and we were rewarded in the end.”
