Boyd, 28, demonstrated his abilities during the 2023 season, notably adding to the LA Galaxy’s campaigns. The Tauranga, New Zealand native scored eight goals and assisted five times in 39 games, 32 of which he started. Notably, Boyd appeared in every league game, starting 28 of them and finishing the season with seven goals and four assists. His contribution was emphasized by key occasions, such as two game-winning goals and two game-changing assists.

The Galaxy made another crucial purchase the day prior, landing the services of 31-year-old goalkeeper John McCarthy. McCarthy joins the Galaxy from LAFC, the Galaxy’s city rivals, where he spent the previous two seasons. His notable effort during the 2022 MLS Cup, when he came off the bench, was critical in helping the Black and Gold win the league title.

These strategic decisions indicate the club’s commitment to bolstering its roster and competing for league success.
