In 2023, Erling Haaland is declared the best striker in Europe’s top five leagues.
The Manchester City striker had a fantastic year leading the line for the Citizens, assisting them to a treble.
While he did not finish as the world’s leading scorer for club and country in 2023, he did achieve another outstanding feat.
Erling Haaland completed 2023 as Europe’s highest goal scorer in the top five leagues.
Haaland completed 2023 as Europe’s top five leagues’ best scorer in all competitions.
The top five leagues are Italy’s Serie A, Germany’s Bundesliga, England’s Premier League, France’s Ligue 1 and Spain’s La Liga.
With Haaland taking the top spot, Sports Brief examines the remaining top five scorers in 2023.
Erling Haaland – 44
The Norwegian striker is always looking to show how dangerous he can be.
Haaland leads the league with 44 goals in all competitions, with 19 already scored since the current season began in August 2023.
Despite being unable to add to his score since December 6, the former Borussia Dortmund player finished at the top of the list.
On that date, the attacker suffered a foot injury and has yet to play for the team, according to Goal.
Harry Kane – 43
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur forward is making the most of his time in Germany.
Kane has already scored 25 goals in five months since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur. During the remaining seven months, he scored 18 goals in England.
Kane has also broken records in England, including one held by Haaland for many years.
Kylian Mbappe – 42
Mbappe is a highly coveted player for a reason.
Between January and August, the Paris Saint-Germain striker scored 21 goals, and another 21 between August and the end of the year.
While he went through a goal-scoring slump and lost a supply of assists following the departures of Neymar and Messi, Mbappe nonetheless found the back of the net on a regular basis.
The year 2024 might be pivotal for the French captain, as he could either quit or sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
Lautaro Martinez – 37
The Argentine striker began 2023 as a World Cup champion, but his Inter Milan team was defeated in the UEFA Champions League final by Manchester City.
Martinez scored 20 goals in a season for the third time at the Italian club and has already scored 17 goals in the 2023/24 season.
Martinez, as reported by highest-paid, is expected to become Serie A’s highest-paid player when Inter signs a new contract to retain him in Italy.
Mohamed Salah – 30
Liverpool’s Egyptian star may not have reached the heights of previous seasons, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous.
Salah has already scored 16 goals since August, with 14 more to come in the first half of 2023.
This season, the Egyptian striker has also attained an incredible milestone, breaking into the top ten all-time Premier League scores.
