According to sources in Spain, Manchester United has entered the race to sign Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich.

In the summer, the Red Devils signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and Sofyan Amrabat (on loan) from Fiorentina to bolster their midfield.

Unfortunately, the English star has spent the majority of his time on the treatment table, while the Moroccan playmaker has only started seven Premier League games and has been inconsistent.

Things have been bleak since Brazil captain Casemiro was injured, and United sorely need to spend more to reinforce their midfield.

In such a case, AS reports that Manchester United have entered the competition to recruit Kimmich, who may end up leaving the Bavarians.

According to the Madrid-based media site, Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in luring the 28-year-old, who is one of the greatest performers in the deep lying midfield position.

The £326,000-a-week German international has eight Bundesliga crowns, three German Cups, six Super Cups, and a Champions League trophy at the Allianz Arena.

Kimmich has the talent and experience to enhance the midfield at Old Trafford, but why would the Kaiser want to join a faltering Manchester United?
