Manchester United great David De Gea may retire after leaving Old Trafford.
David De Gea is still in the market for a new team.
The Spaniard quit United after 12 years last summer.
De Gea, who signed for £18 million from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has yet to find a new club and has turned down multiple offers.
In November, the 33-year-old returned to Manchester and attended a match featuring Manchester United’s women’s squad.
De Gea declined a move to Inter Milan to replace Andre Onana, who had assumed his place at Manchester United.
Saudi Arabia has expressed interest, but De Gea is hesitant to leave his family in the Middle East, who will not follow him.
De Gea is currently an unrestricted free agent.
According to the Athletic, after leaving Old Trafford, De Gea seriously pondered retiring, and then again after the transfer market closed in September.
Despite the fact that De Gea is a free agent, the transfer window’s close heralded the end of clubs’ attempts to sign a first-choice goalkeeper.
Though opportunities have emerged as a result of Nick Pope’s injury at clubs such as Newcastle, De Gea does not want to be an understudy in his last years.
As a result, the Spaniard is considering retiring, and it will take an enticing offer from the United States or a well-known European team to persuade him otherwise.
