Raphael Varane thinks Erik ten Hag is ‘pushing him’ out of Manchester United

Raphael Varane believes he has been ‘pushed’ out of the club after the club’s leadership chose not to activate a 12-month extension clause in his contract.

The Frenchman’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season, and he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a team outside of the Premier League.

Despite the fact that United had the option of invoking a 12-month extension clause in his contract, his existing term would have been extended until 2025.

However, United voted against the move, and they want Varane to sign a contract extension with lower terms if he wants to stay.

The defender earns roughly £300,000 per week at Old Trafford, although he’s missed seven games this season due to a variety of injuries.

United insists Varane will stay, but the Manchester Evening News reports that the Frenchman believes he is being pushed out of the club.

Varane has yet to make a decision about his future and will consider a new contract if the terms are acceptable.

The defender is thought to be content at Old Trafford and to have made his home in the north-west with his family.

However, in order to make room for new players this summer, United must lower their salary cost.

Last summer, the club was compelled to recruit Sergio Reguillon and Sofyan Amrabat on loan because they were dangerously close to breaking Financial Fair Play laws.
