Chelsea have already begun to plan for Thiago Silva’s departure this summer, as the Brazilian icon is unlikely to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Since joining the West London club in 2020, the 39-year-old has made 137 appearances and won key prizes such as the Champions League.
According to Football Insider, the defender is unlikely to sign a new contract with Chelsea, and the club has began preparations to replace him this summer.
Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande, who has a £70 million release clause in his contract with the Portuguese giants, is one player the Premier League team is interested in.
Chelsea are rumored to be interested in signing the 20-year-old this month, but it is improbable.
Diomande has been with Sporting since January of last year and has developed into a key player for the Portuguese club.
Chelsea would complete another huge signing for a centre-back for £70 million, having also signed Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashille, and Wesley Fofana in recent windows.
If a deal is completed, the 20-year-old should be one of the final parts of the Blues’ defensive puzzle, but nothing is definite at Stamford Bridge.
