Mohamed Salah to sign new deal?

After selling Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the summer, Liverpool saw the power of Saudi clubs knocking on their door for certain key players. Firmino also left as a free agent for the Middle Eastern League, but the real surprise came at the end of the summer window when Al-Ittihad made an approach for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool quickly rejected a deal, but Al-Ittihad apparently reached an agreement with the Egyptian on personal terms. According to the article, Salah is still open to signing a new contract at Anfield, which might put an end to Saudi rumors once and for all.

Salah was expected to complete a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer, but if he’s willing to sign a longer contract, things might alter radically for the Saudi Pro League. Other rumors said that Liverpool will transfer Salah for £200 million, which would aid Jurgen Klopp’s squad-building efforts.

There are already other candidates in the running to replace Salah. Still, the report regarding a possible contract extension indicates that Liverpool is leaning toward keeping the Egyptian rather than selling him. According to another source, the 31-year-old has told the club of his wish to stay at Anfield.

Is a new Saudi club interested in Salah?

According to Rudy Galetti, a new Saudi Pro League club has began courting Salah in recent days. According to a December report, Al-Hilal was interested in the Egyptian and was ready to compete with Al-Ittihad for his signature.

It is unclear whether the new club will be Al-Hilal, although it seems likely that it will be one of the four sides owned by the PIF. Al-Ittihad apparently agreed on personal terms with the winger, which might be comparable to what Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are paid.
