Manchester City could try to recruit Savio Moreira as early as January, according to Catalan media. This season, the Brazilian has emerged as one of La Liga’s most promising young players, generating interest from three of Europe’s top five leagues.
Savio has been a bright spot for Girona this season, scoring five goals and sending out five assists. Savio, 19, joined City Football Group partner Troyes on loan following a dismal first season in Europe with the French club and, later, PSV Eindhoven. There were few expectations, but he has since become one of Europe’s most closely followed players, because to his dribbling and pace, which make him impossible to stop.
Barcelona is one of the clubs interested in him, with Sporting Director Deco particularly interested. The Blaugrana are looking to strengthen their left side this summer, and Sport claims that communication between the player’s camp and Deco is still underway.
A deal appears to be tricky, however, with Bundesliga and Premier League clubs keen to pay top price for Savio. Girona and the CFG have so far rejected those offers, and he will remain in Catalonia for the remainder of the season.
Manchester City, on the other hand, is thinking about bringing him in on a permanent basis. Savio, eager to secure his future, might join City soon, possibly as early as January.
This would not only effectively terminate Barcelona’s prospects of signing him if City wanted him for their first-team, but it might also leave Girona in a difficult situation. While no mention of him departing has been made, La Liga rules say that players can only be registered with a club once per season, making a move and a second loan worthless.
