Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, was forced to point out Jeremy Doku’s lack of questions. The pacy winger joined the team from French club Stade Rennais during the most recent summer transfer window. Despite some questions about his ability to compete at the level of Manchester City, he has been a valuable addition to the club’s front line in the first half of the season.
Doku’s ability to beat opponents one-on-one has added a new dimension to City’s offense. This has given manager Pep a number of options.
INJURY ENDED THE WINGER’S AMAZING START IN MAN CITY
Doku’s promising start with Manchester City was cut short by a muscle problem. He suffered the injury in the 3-3 draw with Tottenham last month.
Pep Guardiola was asked for an update on Jeremy Doku’s injury during Manchester City’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Sheffield United during a press conference following the game.
“Yeah, nobody asked me about Jeremy, just Kevin and Erling, Kevin and Erling, Kevin and Erling,” Pep went on to say. “It’ll be soon. “I believe he’ll be back soon,” Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, continued. “They (medical staff) are a little concerned because he’s so explosive, one-on-one, and muscular, but I think he’ll be fine in the coming weeks.” “I certainly hope so.”
THE CITY OF MANCHESTER WILL NOT RETURN DOKU
Manchester City will host Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup third round this weekend at the Etihad Stadium. They’ll then go to St James’ Park to face Newcastle in the Premier League.
Manchester City authorities may decide not to rush Doku back for any of the upcoming games, preferring to give him more time to recover and get back up to speed during their warm weather training camp in Abu Dhabi later this month.
