Another trophy! Cristiano Ronaldo wins Maradona Award for Best Goalscorer with 54 efforts for Al-Nassr & Portugal

It was Cristiano Ronaldo of the Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr who scored the most goals in 2023. This won him the Maradona Award as the year’s best goalscorer.

The Portuguese star doesn’t seem to be able to stop, as he keeps adding to his success both on his own and for the team over the course of his over-20-year career.

The honor came before the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards 2023. The 38-year-old player got 54 goals last year.

According to the sports website Essentially Sports, Ronaldo’s coach at Al Nassr, Luis Castro, praised the Portuguese striker for having “utmost ambition.”

Castro said that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has no plans to stop seeking fame, as he said he would do the same thing again in 2024.

Ronaldo won the award by doing better than his competitors Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland, which was a personal achievement and also helped his team win.

Only two goals separate Kane and Mbappe from the Al Nassr forward in 2023. Both have scored 52 goals.

Haaland, on the other hand, got 50 goals this year, making him the only player who could have beaten Ronaldo.

He currently holds the record for most goals scored in a soccer game (873), and he is also in the running for Best Men’s Player, Best Middle East Player, and Fans’ Favourite Player at the 14th Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.
