The fact that Amad was back in action during Manchester United’s Saturday loss at Nottingham Forest was a plus.
The Ivory Coast international played in the Champions League against Young Boys in December 2021, marking his first competitive game for the Reds.
Sadly, a knee injury suffered by the 21-year-old attacker during preseason setbacks during his stellar Championship loan spell at Sunderland last season impeded his progress.
However, following a protracted recuperation period, Amad returned to The City Ground as a replacement in the 54th minute, taking Antony’s position. Overall, he left a good impression. He had one attempt at goal, cutting in from the right wing and forcing Forest keeper Matt Turner to make a save at the near post.
After the game, Amad took to social media to thank everyone for the support he’s gotten during his recuperation.
Amad wrote on X, the former Twitter, saying, “I thank everyone who prayed for me during my injury.”
It was a very meaningful day for me to get back on the pitch after a five-month absence. This team will return stronger than before. I’m grateful to God that he let me join this squad, and I’m proud of myself.
In the upcoming weeks, Amad will be hoping for additional chances. On Monday, January 8, we play Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round.
