On Sunday, Liverpool will meet Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup. Jürgen Klopp’s team hopes to proceed in the coveted competition by defeating their Premier League opponent.
The Reds have already shown their domestic cup prowess by reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals, and they are eager to keep their competitive edge across all four categories. As Klopp works his way through the club’s injury list, Liverpool will almost probably field a reshuffled team against Arsenal.
The absence of Mohamed Salah and Wataru End, both of whom are currently on international duty, has raised questions about Klopp’s lineup selection. Some hints were apparently presented at Friday’s session at the AXA Training Centre.
In recent Liverpool footage, two familiar figures were seen returning to training. Owen Beck, a full-back who had a successful but brief stay with Dundee FC, is among those recalled by Liverpool. With Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas out injured, Beck may find himself taking chances in the coming weeks, despite being suspended for this weekend’s FA Cup match.
Nat Phillips was also seen sweating beneath Klopp and his teammates. Following an injury-plagued loan spell at Celtic, Liverpool will consider its options before agreeing to another loan move for the center-back.
“With Nat, we have to see and consider our own situation, and he will definitely be with us until the end of the month,” Klopp was quoted as saying. That is the case; we will speak and work through the situation.”
Given the close Premier League title competition and the need to rest key players, Liverpool may give some of its youth youngsters the chance to earn valuable experience against Arsenal. Conor Bradley, Luke Chambers, Bobby Clark, and James McConnell, who have all had brief stints with the first team, took part in training on Friday and might make an appearance.
Kaide Gordon, 19, was also in the group and has previously started a Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal in 2022. Trey Nyoni, on the other side, was the young star that attracted the most supporters’ curiosity. This season, the 16-year-old attacking midfielder for Liverpool’s academy sides has been a rising sensation, and he was chosen to the Premier League matchday squad against Brentford in November.
Meanwhile, Liverpool has provided an update on Robertson’s recovery from dislocated shoulder surgery, which occurred when he was serving with Scotland in October. The Reds released a video of Robertson working out meticulously in the gym before taking the field. As part of his ongoing rehabilitation, the 29-year-old participated in a training session separate from the first team group.
