The logic for Manchester United passing on Timo Werner and allowing Tottenham to win the transfer race

As a result of Manchester United’s uncertainty, Tottenham have jumped in to sign Timo Werner.

The deal for the German forward is approaching completion at the north London club. He will join Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, adding to Ange Postecoglou’s attacking options.

If the loan agreement is successful, Spurs will have the option to sign Werner on a permanent basis. Man United were beaten to the deal for the former Chelsea player, despite previously being linked with a bid for the German.

It has now been revealed why they did not attempt to hijack Tottenham’s transaction. The Red Devils have not confirmed their interest, according to Italian media, since they are undecided of the type of forward they want to sign in January.

Erik ten Hag’s team is looking for more offensive options for the rest of the season. This season, Manchester United has only scored 22 goals in 20 games.

£72 million has arrived. Rasmus Hojlund has only scored one Premier League goal this season, while Marcus Rashford, the previous season’s leading scorer, has only scored three.

Ten Hag jumped to his forwards’ defense last month. “I know Rashford can score goals, [Rasmus] Hojlund can score goals, Antony can score goals, Garnacho can score goals, Bruno [Fernandes] can score goals, Scott McTominay can score goals,” he went on to say.

Timo Werner in action for RB Leipzig

Tottenham Hotspur has beaten Manchester United to the signing of Timo Werner.

“We have the scoring ability in our squad, as well as from set plays, but we aren’t doing it right now.” They must collaborate and have faith in their potential to accomplish.”

With Werner on his way to Tottenham, the Red Devils will be forced to concentrate on other goals. Following a strong start to the Bundesliga season, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Another striker based in Germany is an option as well. Bayern Munich midfielder Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting is allegedly open to a loan move to Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.

Meanwhile, Werner will attempt to reclaim his goal-scoring form in North London. The 27-year-old scored 23 goals in 89 games during his previous stay in England with Chelsea.

He returned to RB Leipzig last season and scored 16 goals in his first season back. He has struggled to sustain his excellent form this season, scoring only twice.
