Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo has refuted ‘lies’ about his future after being linked with a loan move to a Championship team in January.

Amad spent last season on loan with Sunderland, where he worked under manager Tony Mowbray.

The Ivorian forward scored ten league goals, assisting the Black Cats in accomplishing their ultimate aim of making the play-offs.

Ahead of his return to Old Trafford, Amad paid an emotional tribute to Sunderland fans on social media after their season ended in play-off heartbreak with a semi-final loss to Luton Town.

While the Ivorian’s 2023/24 season was limited by a knee injury incurred during pre-season, he is again back in contention and came off the bench for a lively cameo during Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City on New Year’s Eve.

The Manchester United fan account centredevils tweeted on Amad’s future at the club.

The article linked to a story claiming that Amad would join Birmingham on loan until the end of the season, with the Blues expected to appoint Tony Mowbray as their next manager following the sacking of Wayne Rooney.

However, Amad himself put an end to the rumors, commenting to the post directly with the words, “Stop lying mate!”

In an interview with United’s official website ahead of the team’s FA Cup third round match against Wigan Athletic on Monday, manager Erik ten Hag attempted to dispel any questions about Amad’s future.

“Yeah, he’s very ball secure,” he pointed out. He could contribute crucial activity, last passes, and goal scoring.

“And I believe he has some weapons.” That’s what you want to see in offensive players.”
