Luton Town, who are now 18th in the Premier League, are in fourth position with a respectable 1.92 metres per second.   

Manchester United is next with 1.89 metres per second, followed by Bournemouth at 1.87 metres per second.

Fulham (1.69), Newcastle United (1.68), Chelsea (1.67), and Wolverhampton Wanderers come next in terms of metres per second. 

Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion have avoided the bottom three by averaging 1.59 per second in the 2023-2024 season so far.

Some may be surprised to learn that Arsenal and Manchester City are both in the bottom three despite competing for the title this season. 

Arsenal came in third place with 1.54 metres per second, while Manchester City finished last with 1.26. Burnley is in between them, at a speed of 1.45 metres per second.

Arsenal appeared to be on course to win the title last season before collapsing in the final few months, allowing City to win the league as the first leg of their Treble victory.

The Gunners will try to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window in order to avoid a repeat of last season, with fans urging Mikel Arteta to sign a striker. 

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s team has struggled to maintain its tempo this season, losing to Aston Villa and drawing with Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Palace.
