Looking ahead Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, is willing to get rid of Casemiro in January. However, the Brazilian player is having trouble getting interested parties.
The 31-year-old midfielder used to play for Real Madrid. He was one of Erik ten Hag’s first big buys last year, coming in for £60 million, and had a great first season in the Premier League. Unfortunately, he hasn’t played very well this season, and the Brazil international is thought to be free to sign with another team in January.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of Ineos, agreed to buy a 25% stake in his old football club and is now in charge of sports operations at Old Trafford. He is expected to make a lot of changes to how players are hired.
Reports say that Ratcliffe, before signing with the Glazers, used United’s signing of Casemiro as an example of their bad recruiting strategy. However, getting rid of him is proving to be harder than expected.
As of now, The Sun says that United are having a hard time finding clubs that are ready to sign Casemiro because his contract still has two-and-a-half years to go. A lot of people say that the warrior makes around £350,000 a week.
If the club could get rid of Casemiro, it would save a lot on his salary. However, only some of Europe’s best and most ambitious teams in the Saudi Pro League would be able to afford his current salary.
Casemiro has been out since November with a leg injury, but he and a number of other players, such as Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire, are getting close to being able to play again.
But it’s not clear how much longer Casemiro will stay at the club, since United wants to get rid of him. In fact, BeIN Sports host Richard Keys said earlier this week that the midfielder’s time at the club was “over” when asked if Casemiro would have kept his spot if he hadn’t been hurt and in bad form.
