Manchester United great Roy Keane has slammed the club’s attacker Rasmus Hojlund after he squandered several decent chances against Wigan in the FA Cup on Monday night, ordering him to’stop fooling about’.
Hojlund returned to Manchester United’s starting lineup in the FA Cup third round against Wigan after recuperating from illness.
In the first half against the League One side, the Denmark international had several good scoring chances, including heading an Alejandro Garnacho cross against the crossbar from close range.
He also failed to react to Marcus Rashford’s saved shot, pushing wide from six yards out against the hosts.
The 20-year-old lacked confidence in front of goal against Wigan, and Kane was unimpressed with him.
“You are overly kind. “I’d be fuming with him,” Keane told Roberto Martinez on ITV.
“We wanted United to exhibit some aspect of their game tonight. We wanted United to show a different aspect of their game tonight; they took their Premier League tendencies into tonight, such as squandering chances and not being clinical. I’d like to see that side of United tonight.
“The striker is missing chances; we may cry “unlucky” all day, but these are excellent opportunities. Put the ball in the net and stop messing about.”
Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes scored both goals in Man United’s 2-0 FA Cup victory.
