Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Holds Talks with Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane over Future at Old Trafford.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has disclosed that the club is currently engaged in discussions with striker Anthony Martial regarding his contract at Old Trafford. Alongside Martial, negotiations are also underway with defender Raphael Varane. Ten Hag further revealed that the club has exercised options to extend the contracts of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, and Hannibal Mejbri for an additional year.
While the club possesses the option to extend the contracts of Martial and Varane, they have yet to trigger those options and are still in talks with both players. When questioned about their futures, Ten Hag stated that it is an internal discussion between the club and the players.
However, some Manchester United fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the idea of Martial remaining at the club, highlighting his lack of consistent goal-scoring performance in recent seasons. Their frustrations were voiced on social media, with some suggesting that the club should part ways with the player.
Ten Hag’s remarks were made ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup third-round match against Wigan Athletic. He also mentioned having “very positive” discussions with the club’s new investors, Ineos, after meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Carrington. The manager described the meeting as productive and expressed optimism about working together, while acknowledging that it will take time to integrate their ideas and strategies into the club’s operations.
