Marcus Rashford Faces Backlash After Allegedly Going on a 12-Hour Bender in Belfast.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has faced criticism after reportedly going on a 12-hour drinking spree in Belfast and subsequently missing training. The 26-year-old forward was absent from Friday’s training session and was left out of the squad for United’s FA Cup match against Newport County. The breach of discipline has reportedly angered Rashford’s teammates, according to Mail Sport.
New details have emerged about Rashford’s time in Belfast, with waitress Sarah Adair recounting the events to The Sun. Adair stated that Rashford was drinking throughout the day and became so intoxicated that she had to help him to bed after he dropped his bag, revealing a large sum of cash estimated to be between £8,000 and £10,000. Adair described how Rashford passed out fully dressed and didn’t even get under the covers.
Adair also revealed that Rashford had invited her to join him and his friends on the night out and had already made up his mind about skipping training. She mentioned that Rashford inquired about nightclubs that would stay open past 3 am if he paid them enough money, indicating his lack of plans for the following day. Adair had to wait for hours before being picked up by a Mercedes van and was asked to hand over her phone and keep the outing a sеcrеt.
Rashford, along with his entourage, visited a restaurant where he had booked the top floor and brought his own Bluetooth speaker to listen to his favorite rap music. He was reportedly on a mission to get Ԁrunk and disregarded reminders from a friend about his training obligations. The group visited multiple nightclubs, and at one point, Rashford allegedly got into an argument with a French girl over accusations of him kissing another woman.
Adair woke up the next morning to find that Rashford had already left hours earlier. He returned to Manchester but called in sick and did not attend training. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has pledged to deal with the matter internally. United released a statement confirming that Rashford has taken responsibility for his actions, and they consider the issue closed.
