Lisandro Martínez stops to sign a shirt before leaving two children in tears of pleasure

When he stopped to sign two young fans’ shirts over the weekend, Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United truly made their day—or maybe their entire year. After his team’s 3-1 victory over Reading at home on Saturday, January 28, supporters congregated at Old Trafford’s exits, as they frequently do, in an attempt to identify the players departing.

Since his arrival at the club in July 2022, Martínez has been a fan favourite. His performances always display skill and enthusiasm, which is why it’s no surprise that he won a world championship with Argentina. Moments like these will only grow his fan base.

After the man himself commented on the now-viral video, chuffed dad Paul praised the 25-year-old in a tweet for providing them a memory that will last a lifetime.

As fellow South Americans Fred and Casemiro combined to blast three fantastic goals past the Berkshire side, Licha was rested.

With just one loss and one tie in their previous 13 games, they have now won 11 straight at home.  The club managed by Erik ten Hag is now tied for fourth place in the standings with Newcastle, has advanced to the FA Cup’s fourth round, and has all but secured an EFL Cup championship.
