NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and his talented basketball family recently announced their intention to invest in well-established Greek wineries. Despite the fact that the brothers moved to the United States for their NBA careers, they chose to bring a piece of Greece with them and share its beauty with the world.

 

Giannis, Kostas, Thanasis, and Alex Antetokounmpo want to invest in preserving winemaking knowledge in Greece and promoting it globally for recognition, motivated by their love for their homeland, connection to nature, and appreciation for the historical art of winemaking.

 

«Our aspiration is to introduce Greece’s exceptional products to wine enthusiasts all over the world, thereby facilitating economic growth and cultural exchanges,» they say in a joint statement.

 

Ante Inc., the Antetokounmpo brothers’ global business portfolio, will acquire shares of Hellenic Wineries as part of their wine joint venture. They previously acquired Boutari Wineries in 2022 and recently acquired IOLI, a natural mineral water company.

 

Giannis, also known as the «Greek Freak,» had faced an uncertain career and contemplated leaving basketball altogether before deciding to stay with the Milwaukee Bucks. His interest in Greek agriculture and winemaking will undoubtedly bring ancient knowledge and traditions to light.
