Patrick Beverley has had beef with a lot of NBA players at this point in his career, so when he is transferred — as he was from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Milwaukee Bucks at the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline — he will almost certainly be paired with someone who dislikes him. The problem is that he doesn’t get along with one of the team’s brightest talents, Damian Lillard.
Beverley, one of the NBA’s most aggressive and bothersome perimeter defenders, is the kind of player that teammates adore and opponents despise. This also applies to superstars he guards who dislike his on-court manner, which some perceive to be borderline dirty, as well as his relentless on- and off-court trash talking.
His beef with Lillard dates back at least to January 2023, when the two played a rough game when Lillard was still with the Portland Trail Blazers and Pat Bev was with the Los Angeles Lakers. After the game, Beverley stated that it was “always good to see Dame,” while Lillard responded on Twitter, labelling his opponent a “con man” and comparing him to the character Flip from Above the Rim.
A year later, Beverley is headed to the Bucks to play alongside Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and his former mentor Doc Rivers.
During a phone chat with a pal broadcast on Twitter, Patrick Beverley wonders who else is in Milwaukee while discussing his friendship with Lillard.
“I gotta get my relationship right with Dame,” Beverley said. “It’s time to win a championship.”
