Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the treatment of one of his players by Premier League referees. Following United’s 2-1 victory over Luton Town, Ten Hag criticized the decisions that went against his team during the match. He specifically mentioned an incident involving Casemiro, who received a yellow card for a foul on Amari’i Bell and subsequently avoided a second booking for a challenge on Ross Barkley.
Ten Hag believed that Casemiro should have been sent off and criticized referee David Coote for putting the player in that position due to what he considered an unfair first yellow card. He also suggested that Casemiro’s reputation with Premier League referees may have played a role in the decisions.
Luton manager Rоb Edwards also expressed frustration at Casemiro being allowed to escape punishment for two challenges in quick succession. Despite these complaints, Ten Hag acknowledged that the team ultimately has control over the game and emphasized the importance of decisions going in their favor.
After the victory over Luton, Manchester United moved up to sixth place in the Premier League table and have now won five consecutive games in all competitions, a feat they last achieved in January 2023. Their next match is against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
