Toni Kroos, Real Madrid’s experienced midfielder, has confirmed his return to the German national squad after three years away. Kroos will join Die Mannschaft in March before competing in the Euro finals at home in the summer of 2024.
The 34-year-old midfielder retired from the national team in 2021, following Die Mannschaft’s poor result in the EURO 2020 finals. However, prior to this year’s competition, Kroos was strongly motivated to return to the German national squad for the tournament. The contest will take place in his hometown.
Furthermore, the German squad did not do well under new coach Julian Nagelsmann. And having a veteran talent like Kroos will provide plenty of desire to win the championship at home.
Kroos acknowledged to exploring a return in a recent interview. And, tonight, Vietnam time, the 34-year-old midfielder verified this via Instagram.
“I’ll be playing for the German national team again in March. Why? I’m thrilled that the coach asked me. And I am confident that this side will do something remarkable in the EURO finals,” he stated.
Kroos has made 106 appearances for Germany and scored 17 goals. Before joining Real Madrid, he was a member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup winning team.
Kroos will play friendly matches against France and the Netherlands in March before heading to the EURO 2024 final.
Kroos’ comeback to the German national team could bode well for Real Madrid. As a result, after the 2023/24 season, the Spanish Royals have the option of signing this player to a new deal.
