Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s head coach, has revealed Arda Güler’s reaction to what proved to be another unpleasant evening for the youngster.
Real, of course, made their return to play recently, hosting Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu for a La Liga match.
Despite the fact that Los Blancos are now dealing with a slew of personnel issues, midfielder Güler was once again forced to settle for a bench spot.Nonetheless, as proceedings in Madrid neared the final quarter of an hour, the 19-year-old appeared to be given a rare opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.
With his team still looking for a vital win and Los Blancos’ forwards repeatedly failing to break down a tenacious Sevilla backline, Güler was told to brace himself for an impending insertion into the game.
The deadlock was broken just before the Turk was about to step onto the pitch.
Luka Modrić scored a stunning 20-yard strike off the inside post, just minutes after coming off the bench.
As a result, the evening’s hosts changed their tactics, and Güler was instructed that he would continue to sit on the bench.
Speaking to the media after the final whistle in Madrid, it came as little surprise that Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the summer addition to his squad.
This, of course, comes amid extensive media speculation that Güler is getting increasingly dissatisfied with his limited playing time.
After stating that Modric’s goal was essential in changing his plans, Ancelotti went on to guarantee that Güler handled the decision’very well’:
“Arda Güler?” I made a strategy with Arda before Modric’s goal, but I altered my mind. Arda understands it extremely well. Nothing could happen unless he understood it.”
