After a quarter of play, Milwaukee had a comfortable 32-16 lead because of the excellent play of Damian Lillard. Dame started off strong, making multiple three-pointers and scoring 14 points in the first quarter.
The Bucks kept up their scoring in the second quarter, and the Hornets were unable to stop them. The Hornets failed to produce any offensive effort either, as evidenced by their halftime score of just 26 points (!!!), giving Milwaukee a 58-26 advantage.
The Hornets had no chance of winning this one. By the end of the third quarter, Milwaukee led 96-49 and was comfortably in charge. From then on, it was just a matter of time running out, with the Bucks emerging victorious 123-85.
The Stat That Prominent
The defence of the Bucks was excellent. Since Doc joined the team, things have changed drastically, but tonight was even more so. For the Stat of the Night, how about this one? 58–26 was the Bucks’ halftime lead.
This season’s lowest point total in the NBA at the half is that one. Let’s take it a step farther, shall we? With 26 points at the half, the Hornets have scored the second-fewest points in the first half of the Bucks’ history (the previous record was 25, versus PHI on March 3, 1972). Simply said, Milwaukee’s defence was so oppressive.
