Modric, who scored the sole goal in Real Madrid’s home victory over Sevilla, is expected to leave the Bernabeu following this season.
Modric, 38, is on his 12th consecutive season with Real Madrid, having joined the club from Tottenham in the summer of 2012.
Although coach Ancelotti asked him to join the coaching staff if he wanted to retire, Modric appeared to want to continue playing.
Until now, all information surrounding Modric’s future is speculative and inaccurate. Even during the last winter transfer window, the 38-year-old midfielder turned down many offers from Saudi Arabia to stay at Real Madrid.
However, this year’s season is not going so well for Luka Modric. The Croatian international has appeared in 29 matches across all competitions, but has only played fewer than 900 minutes.
Additionally, Modric has started two of Real Madrid’s last five matches. This fueled rumors that various teams, notably Inter Miami, are interested in signing this player during the forthcoming transfer window.
Modric’s former club, Dinamo Zagreb, is also a possibility. In an earlier speech, club president Mirko Barisic stated that he is always eager to welcome back the 2018 Golden Ball winner.
“He is in the last year of his contract, of course I will call him this winter.” – Barisic spoke.
“How come Dinamo Zagreb does not want Modric back? I can’t say I’m in frequent communication with Modric, but I know some of his family.
It would make sense for him to return to Dinamo near the end of his career. Dinamo will undoubtedly do everything in its power to make this happen. Let’s wait and see if that happens.
Let’s see what Modric decides when the season ends! Meanwhile, thanks to this star’s only goal, Real Madrid is still on track for the La Liga championship, with 65 points after 26 matches, six more than Girona.
Modric and his colleagues will face Valencia on March 3. Following that, Real Madrid will host Leipzig in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on March 7, followed by a home match against Celta Vigo four days later.
