Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has expressed his dismay over Jude Bellingham’s red card following the disallowed late goal, describing the situation as “embarrassing.” Bellingham was sent off for dissent towards referee Jesus Gil after his potential match-winning goal against Valencia was ruled out due to the final whistle being blown.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti clarified that Bellingham did not insult the referee but rather expressed his frustration in English, exclaiming, “It was a f***ing goal.” Tchouameni took to social media platform X to voice his complaint, stating, “That’s embarrassing.”
In the match, Valencia took an early two-goal lead through Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk, but Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior responded with a brace to equalize. Bellingham believed he had secured a late victory with a header, but the goal was disallowed and chaotic scenes followed, resulting in his red card.
Referee Gil added an additional seven minutes of stoppage time, and even awarded a penalty to Valencia before reversing the decision after a pitchside review. Real Madrid won a corner in the 98th minute, and instead of blowing the final whistle immediately after the corner kιck, Gil allowed play to continue long enough for Brahim Diaz to deliver a cross that Bellingham scored from.
Ancelotti described the situation as unprecedented and expressed disappointment as his team had fought back from a 2-0 deficit only to be denied victory by a matter of seconds. Despite the frustration and controversy, Real Madrid remаins at the top of the table, but Girona has the opportunity to close the gap to four points if they win against Mallorca. Meanwhile, Barcelona could fall six points behind if they defeat Athletic Bilbao.
Ancelotti believes the players need to focus on the table standings to regain composure ahead of their upcoming matches. Despite the dropped points, Real Madrid is still in a favorable position in the league.
