Nike has debuted the Air Zoom Mercurial x Air Max Plus in a “Black/Pimento” colorway, following January’s release.
Nike kicked out the year in usual disruptive form, releasing a limited edition Air Max Plus Tn-inspired model of the current Air Zoom Mercurial in a “Volt Purple/Total Orange” colorway for both the Vapor XV and the Superfly IX. They have now followed up with another colorway from the Air Max Plus, this time with the “Black/Pimento” design transposed to the Mercurial.
Following in the footsteps of the previous edition, the next Mercurial x Air Max Plus will use “pimento” as the basic color, with highlights inspired by the first. The palm tree-inspired TPU cage remains on the Mercurial in glossy black, but the traditional whale tail-shaped shank has been replaced by the Air Zoom Mercurial’s standard soleplate, ensuring pitch readiness. The switch from “Tn” to “Zm” is likewise located here, a clear reference to the Air Zoom unit contained within.
