Kylian Mbappé has long been known as one of the fastest football players in existence. In PSG’s recent victory over Real Sociedad in the Champions League, Mbappé once again showcased his speed. Both of his goals came from well-timed runs (in the 15th and 56th minutes). According to the BBC, the Frenchman was clocked at an estimated speed of 10.9 seconds over 100 meters, equivalent to approximately 33 km/h. This speed is just over a second slower than Usain Bolt’s world record.
For comparison, during his world record-setting run in 2009, Usain Bolt completed the 100 meters in 9.58 seconds in Berlin. Therefore, Mbappé is only about a second away from that impressive speed. However, it’s important to note that these two performances are not directly comparable. Mbappé’s measurement was taken while he was already in motion on a grass field, whereas Bolt’s record was achieved on a track from a standing start.
Mbappé’s incredible pace is a valuable asset in his game, allowing him to make devastating runs and leave defenders in his wake. His speed combined with his skill and agility make him a formidable force on the football pitch. As he continues to develop and refine his abilities, it will be exciting to see how he further utilizes his exceptional speed in the future.
