The brilliance of Federico Valverde and Vinicius enabled Real Madrid easily defeat Osasuna on their home turf.
Real Madrid has lost points in the last two away rounds of La Liga (against Valencia and Vallecano), therefore they are very concerned as guests of the bothersome squad Osasuna. This is especially concerning for coach Carlo Ancelotti, who is without Jude Bellingham due to suspension.
However, on the day Federico Valverde and Vinicius shone, Real Madrid defeated Osasuna convincingly. Vinicius snatched the ball from midfielder Alejandro Catena’s feet in the fourth minute and opened the scoring against the goalkeeper.
Even though the home team equalized 1-1 three minutes later, Real Madrid just needed 15 minutes to reclaim the lead. Dani Carvajal scored in the 18th minute, after Valverde hooked the ball in, to make the score 2-1.
Real remained in control of the game after the break, and in the 61st minute, they increased their lead even further. Valverde’s clever ball allowed midfielder Brahim Díaz to face goalkeeper Herrera and carefully finish, increasing the score to 3-1.
Vinicius then packed the game early, three minutes later. Valverde broke the offside trap when defender Antony Rudiger initiated a counterattack, then utilized his hip to send the ball to Vinicius to make the score 4-1.
Real Madrid won despite Osasuna’s late goal, which reduced the score to 2-4. The final 4-2 victory helped Real Madrid retain first place with 72 points after 29 games, putting them 10 points clear of Girona and 11 points ahead of Barcelona with one game remaining.
