As anticipated, the game was thrilling and full of drama, with both teams taking turns leading and pushing the match into extra time.

In the closing moments, Manchester United netted two consecutive goals to secure a 4-3 victory.

Of particular note was Amad Diallo’s goal in the 120th minute. Overwhelmed with elation and caught up in the moment, the Ivorian player removed his shirt in celebration, forgetting that he had already received a yellow card earlier.

Referee John Brooks brandished a second yellow card to Diallo, resulting in a red card. The 21-year-old forward will miss the semi-final match against Coventry City.

According to the FA’s regulations, “A player must be cautioned, even if a goal is not awarded, for removing their shirt or covering their head with their shirt.”

However, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes believes that this rule should be reconsidered. He emphasized that it’s simply a matter of players savoring the joy of celebrating a goal.

“Amad deserved that goal; he’s being rewarded for doing the right things,” Bruno expressed in The Times.

“Unfortunately, he was sent off. Celebrating is part of this moment and part of youth.

This moment should be cherished, and I believe it’s one of the rules that football needs to change because you should be able to celebrate a goal, and it’s clearly a sign of respect for other clubs. Enjoy your moment.”

Diallo admitted after the match that he forgot about his prior caution before celebrating.

It was an unforgettable culmination in Diallo’s fourth appearance for the club this season.

Diallo’s goal, however, stands as his most significant contribution at Old Trafford thus far, as it sealed a remarkable comeback victory against their fierce rivals.

In the semi-finals, Manchester United will only face Coventry City, and if they emerge victorious, they will meet the winner of the Manchester City – Chelsea matchup in the final.

Last year, the FA Cup final featured the Manchester derby, but the “Red Devils” conceded a goal just 13 seconds into the game.
