NBA Finals: The superstar of the Boston Celtics’ $500,000 watch and what the other players are wearing

It’s the Finals of the NBA, baby.

Even though I’m sad that the Miami Heat fell to the Celtics (I’m now a Warriors fan), I’ve managed to compile a list of the greatest timepieces that players like Steph Curry and Jayson Tatum have on.

Let us begin with the Golden State Warriors, the Western Conference champions.

Jayson Tatum and his Richard Mille watch.

1. Draymond Green Forever Wakanda!

Together, Audemars Piguet and Marvel produced this exclusive timepiece—of which only 250 were produced—as a tribute to the legendary Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of Black Panther.

In May of last year, during the NBA-Marvel Arena of Heroes telecast, the Golden State Warriors player was spotted wearing the watch.

The incredible suit worn by Black Panther, which is constructed of Vibranium—a fictitious rare metal that can only be found in Wakanda—serves as the model for the sandblasted titanium casing.

The hand-painted, white gold T’Challa on the Royal Oak Concept Black Panther Flying Tourbillon is its most remarkable feature. The suit’s texture was carved out using lasers.

The heart-shaped plant that grants Wakanda’s leader greater physical power and skills to fulfill their job as Black Panther is referenced in its purple highlights.

However, Green is not the only person who owns this $162,000 watch.

LeBron James, the King, has been seen sporting the unique watch courtside.

Green has accumulated a sizable collection of watches throughout the years.

He has been spotted donning another AP watch, a $93,900 white porcelain Royal Oak perpetual calendar:

And he also has a rose-gold skeleton dial Royal Oak, which was “almost impossible” to get his hands on.

“I thought I could just click on the watch on the website and buy it. And so I clicked, and it’s like, ‘Contact this place. Contact that place’,” Green told GQ.

He’s had a helping hand with expanding his watch collection from his teammate, Steph Curry, who gifted Green and Andre Iguodala engraved Rolexes.

Dray expressed his gratitude by yelling, “That’s fire!”

2. Curry Steph

There are no surprises here, but my man Steph Curry has a killer bod.

Similar to Dray, the cutesy assassin enjoys AP, has a gold Royal Oak, and even managed to obtain an iced-out Dual Time for the Met Gala the previous year.

He’s not as flashy of a dresser as some of his other superstar counterparts, but his watch collection is still to be envied.

Among his watches are the Cartier Santos ($57,000), the AP Royal Oak Offshore Watch ($25,000 on the pre-owned market), and the Rolex President Day-Date (from $33,150).

It should come as no surprise that Klay Thompson frequently sports the Tissot wristwatch as an ambassador.

In a 2019 interview with GQ Sports, he unveiled his collection of two Tissot watches, the Tissot Chrono XL and the Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium:

And he even takes his Seastar fishing with him on his down time:

Prior to the Warriors’ game against the Celtics, Tissot has even released a Golden State Warriors strap in addition to ones for other NBA teams. Tissot is still recovering from his injury from this season.

However, his collection of timepieces is not limited to Tissot.

The Rolex that Thompson received, along with Green and Iguodala, was reportedly a $38,000 Submariner Date.

4. Tatum Jayson

We’re entering Celtics country now, and we’ll start with MVP of the Eastern Conference Finals Jayson Tatum.

Actor Eric Da Jeweler claims that he spent $500,000 for an all-white Richard Mille RM055 Bubba Watson.

According to TMZ, Tatum gave it to himself as a birthday present to celebrate turning 24.

With hours, minutes, and seconds shown on its skeletonized movement, the tourbillon is manually wound.

Titanium of grade five is used to make its mechanical movement.

And of course, he has the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

5. Jaylen Brown

Alongside his crystals and bling, Celtics guard-forward Jaylen Brown stores his Richard Mille skull tourbillion – as he showed off to GQ Sports.

The RM 052 was a limited edition and is made of grade 5 titanium – with the upper and lower jaws holding a ruby.

Its movement is connected to the case by four bridges in the shape of crossed bones featured on pirate ship flags.

Worth $500,000 retail, the unique-looking watch has also been seen on Post Malone’s wrist.

“This new caliber represents the fullest expression of liberty and nonconformity and as such, very much typifies the philosophy of the brand,” the RM website says.

“Extreme technique, high performance, the highest level of aesthetic and hand-finishing: the RM 052 Skull is true Haute Horlogerie.”
