Lamine Yamal has issued a warning to Mbappe and his teammates ahead of their encounter in the quarterfinals of the 2023/24 Champions League.
Yamal, a promising young player for FC Barcelona, is someone that Paris Saint-Germain should pay attention to in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Yamal is currently with the Spanish national team, preparing for two friendly matches against Colombia and Brazil. The young star from Barca had a brief interview with Marca, where he expressed confidence and revealed his goals when asked about the challenging clаsh with PSG in the Champions League.
Yamal told the Spanish newspaper, “I want to score a goal in the second leg against PSG, and Barca will emerge victorious.”
Barca recently had an impressive 3-0 victory over their rival Atletico Madrid, which serves as the basis for Yamal’s great confidence. It’s not just Yamal, but Barca’s number one striker, Lewandowski, is also full of hope ahead of the tough encounter in the Champions League.
Lewandowski said, “Look at how we play in the Champions League against PSG. Barca’s goal is to win just like we did today against Atletico. We have a team with a lot of potential, especially with young players who will continue to improve.”
Despite the confidence of Yamal and Lewandowski, speaking to Bild, German football legend Lothar Matthäus has chosen PSG as the team to progress.
Yamal is predicted to become a top player in the future, but Matthäus noted that the Catalan team lacks a true superstar like Kylian Mbappe, a quality that PSG possesses. Furthermore, Matthäus added that Robert Lewandowski is no longer as dangerous as before, as he has only scored three goals in seven matches in this season’s Champions League.
The first leg between PSG and Barca will take place on April 11. In the first leg, Barca will have to travel to France, which is considered a highly challenging test for Xavi’s squad.
