Aurelien Tchouameni, the Real Madrid midfielder, has clarified that his conversation with Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga was not about Erling Haaland of Manchester City or Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain, despite the speculation surrounding their potential transfers to Real Madrid. The discussion, which gained viral attention after its publication without names, was actually centered around Bayern Munich’s defenders, Dayot Upamecano and Eric Dier.
Tchouameni addressed the issue during a press conference with the French national team, stating, “We have to make things clear because as soon as I arrived at the national team, that was the first question they asked me. You have to know that we were with Real Madrid and I think the guys came to show us some clothes. What you need to know, and this is a first, is that we were not talking about Kylian or Erling. We were talking about Dayot (Upamecano) and Dier. Why? Because we were watching Bayern-Lazio. Jude was talking about Dier and I, about Dayot. So today, we are going to make things clear. I know it will sell less, but that’s what happened.”
In the second leg of the Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Lazio, Dier started instead of Upamecano, with Bayern emerging as 3-0 winners. Upamecano was suspended for the first leg after conceding a penalty in a 1-0 loss.
Bellingham and Tchouameni are familiar with their countrymen through international duty but have not played together at the club level. There is a possibility that they could face each other in April if Real Madrid and Bayern advance past Manchester City and Arsenal, respectively.
