A excellent test before Euro 2024. Hungary and Turkey faced off in a fierce match in Budapest, which was ended by a single goal (1-0) in favor of the home team. Two teams that will compete at the event in Germany this summer and hope to surprise because they both had strong qualifying rounds. Arda Guler came on in the second half and played the final 30 minutes, creating a positive impression. He passed up an excellent opportunity to tie.
The match was extremely even. Turkey produced more, but the goal came from the Magyars, due to a penalty converted by Szoboszlai. Gulacsi, with six stops, was the best among the locals.
Turkey, as usual, performed to the tune of Calhanoglu, who served as orchestra director. The Ottoman captain played exceptionally well, yet it was insufficient. Guler left a shot (which he couldn’t finish properly), six duels won, and a 77% pass success rate in 30 minutes after entering with a 1-0 deficit.
The match, by the way, featured two Italian coaches: Marco Rossi (Hungary) and Vincenzo Montella (Turkey).
