Kylian Mbappe and William Saliba, both members of the French national football team, are preparing for the upcoming European Championships. Recently, Mbappe playfully teased Saliba for always wearing the same pair of boots. In a behind-the-scenes video, Mbappe jokingly threatened to call Nike to get Saliba to change his footwear. Despite the banter, the two players are friends and have been enjoying each other’s company at INF Clairefontaine, the training center for the French national team.
In training, Mbappe showcased his skills by outperforming Saliba on multiple occasions. During one instance, he dribbled past Saliba and set up a goal for Warren Zaïre-Emery. It’s understandable that Saliba might have been cautious in tackling Mbappe, considering the upcoming major tournament. However, their friendly rivalry on the training pitch demonstrates their competitive spirit.
Saliba, who joined Arsenal in 2019, has spoken about his upbringing in the northeastern suburb of Paris. He mentioned growing up on an estate and playing football with his friends in the local neighborhood. Saliba also mentioned that he and Mbappe attended the same primary school, where Mbappe’s father was their coach.
As France prepares to face Germany and Chile in friendly matches, both Mbappe and Saliba hope to impress national team coach Didier Deschamps and secure a place in the starting lineup for the European Championships.
