Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for an “extraordinary” player who earns £148,000 per week. The player’s contract is set to expire, allowing United to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

Ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a part owner of the club, there has been a flurry of activity both on and off the pitch. One of the tasks at hand is deciding whether Erik ten Hag is the right manager to continue with beyond the summer and, if not, finding a suitable successor. 

Ange Postecoglou, the current Tottenham boss, has been mentioned as a potential option. Additionally, United is actively pursuing Dan Ashworth to become their new sporting director, as he is currently on gardening leave at Newcastle United.

Of course, transfers are also on the agenda, with several rumors circulating about potential signings. Manchester United aims to bridge the gap between themselves and the top teams in the Premier League, such as Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Gleison Bremer, a Juventus defender, is attracting interest from English clubs, including Manchester United. The Red Devils are also reportedly considering Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as a possible target. Weston McKennie, another Juventus player, has been linked with a move to United as well despite his underwhelming loan spell at Leeds United last season.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United could pursue the signing of Adrien Rabiot, a midfielder from Juventus, on a free transfer this summer when his current contract expires. The report suggests that Rabiot, who earns £148,000 per week, is being viewed as a cost-effective option as he nears the end of his contract. He could serve as an alternative to the highly-rated young talent Joao Neves from Benfica.

Rabiot has long been on United’s radar and has been linked to a move to Old Trafford on multiple occasions in the past. Although he will turn 29 next month, he would still provide a younger and more dynamic option in midfield compared to players like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. Former France international David Trezeguet has praised Rabiot in the past, describing him as an “extraordinary player” and suggesting that he will bounce back and regain his importance wherever he goes.

Rabiot has been in fine form this season, contributing four goals and three assists in Serie A, showcasing his ability to provide an end product from midfield. Additionally, he has demonstrated his effectiveness in defensive duties by averaging 1.8 tackles per game. At this stage of his career, Rabiot appears to be at his peak, and considering the opportunity to acquire him on a free transfer, Manchester United should view him as a valuable option.
