England manager Gareth Southgate highlighted Kobbie Mainoo’s unique qualities as a midfielder, which gave him a different profile compared to other players in the team. 

Southgate praised Mainoo’s performance in a midfield trio alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice during England’s 2-2 draw against Belgium. Despite Mainoo’s young age, Southgate was impressed by his ability to handle pressure, navigate tight spaces, and manipulate the ball skillfully. 

The manager also commended Jarrod Bowen and Ivan Toney for their contributions, suggesting they may have earned spots in England’s 23-man squad for the upcoming European Championship. 

Injuries to key players have posed challenges, but Southgate recognized the positive emergence of new talents through increased game time.
