One thing Giannis Antetokounmpo is is a family guy. The four brothers have an exceptionally close relationship with one another. Great parenting is to thank for the harmonious bond that exists amongst the siblings.
Several NBA players can trace their lineage back to Veronica and Charles Antetokounmpo. They must not have imagined that one of their sons would grow up to be an NBA MVP; they came from a very modest family. Giannis is remembering his father, who passed away, today, so we will be strolling down memory lane with him.
Sadly, Mr. Charles passed away in 2017 at the age of 54. It just so happened that Giannis won MVP that same year. Sharing is strength, his father instilled in all of his boys. He did not tolerate selfishness in his household.
Giannis celebrated his father’s life on Twitter with a video that captured every special moment of his 25 years with his family. He describes the feelings he has for his loved ones in the video by sharing a quote. “Family is everything to me,” the quote read. This shoe belongs to my family, not just myself. He added, “I know you are in Heaven proud and smiling down” to the post. Wishing you a very happy birthday, Daddy.
The post paints a vivid picture of each significant event in his life. All the way back to his youth, when his dad would sit in the stands and watch him play. During his first pregnancy, his fiancée Mariah Danae Riddlesprigger delivered birth, and his mother was always there.
These are the pivotal moments that brought one family closer together and changed them forever.
The fact that Giannis chose the name “Charles” for his son, Liam, shows how much he values his dad. Just looking at that middle name says a lot.
Nike was involved in filming the documentaries, which claim that the Antetokounmpos used to sell goods on the streets as a means of subsistence. They had a hard time putting food on the table. Even if he went to bed hungry, his father would never subject his children to the hardships of poverty. “When I was practicing, I was thinking about my dad and my mom.”
so has to have been the motivation for a young Giannis to say so.
Although we can’t even fathom the pain that Giannis and his loved ones may be going through right now, we can show our support for him and his squad the next time they face the Brooklyn Nets. Great job, Greek Freak!
