Manchester United faces additional fitness concerns as both Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof picked up injuries in the match against Brentford in the early morning of March 31st.

In the disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford in Matchweek 30 of the 2023/24 Premier League season, defender Raphael Varane sustained an eye injury in the second half, while Lindelof was substituted by Lisandro Martinez due to another issue.

This news raises significant concerns as Manchester United has already been dealing with the absence of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Anthony Martial throughout a season plagued by injuries. However, Varane reassured journalist Steven Railston that his injury is not too severe.

The recent match undoubtedly left Manchester United fans frustrated, as the team not only lost two players to injuries but also dropped two points against Brentford. The Red Devils seemed poised for victory when Mason Mount scored in stoppage time of the second half, but Kristoffer Ajer shone with a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United currently sits in sixth place in the Premier League table, trailing fifth-placed Tottenham by eight points. The setback in this match has impacted their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag remains hopeful about his team’s chances, stating in an interview with Match of the Day, “There are still many matches to play. Hold on to that. Ultimately, it could be a very good point.”

The Red Devils hope to return to their winning ways as they visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on April 5th. The Blues currently sit in 11th place in the standings, eight points behind Manchester United.
