The wage bills for all 20 Premier League clubs from the previous season have been revealed, with only two clubs having wage bills below £100 million. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season behind champions Manchester City, despite having the fifth-highest wage bill in the league at £235 million.

Spanish manager Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad spent a staggering amount, with Manchester City outspending Arsenal by nearly £200 million in wages during the 2022-2023 season. Pep Guardiola’s squad topped the Premier League wage table, spending £423 million. However, this expenditure was accompanied by corresponding success, as Manchester City clinched their third consecutive Premier League title.man-city.png

The most surprising disparity lies between Arsenal (£235 million) and the trio of Liverpool (£373 million), Chelsea (£340 million), and Manchester United (£331 million), who occupy the second to fourth positions, respectively.

Arsenal’s wage bill is significantly lower, ranging from £96 million to £138 million, compared to the three clubs above them. These statistics are remarkable, especially when considering the challenges faced by Chelsea and Manchester United.arsenal-premier-league.png

Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table last season and currently maintain that position this season. Meanwhile, Manchester United finished third last season behind Manchester City and Arsenal, but now find themselves in sixth place.

In addition to the top five “big” clubs, Tottenham is the only other Premier League club with a wage bill exceeding £200 million. Last season, the London-based club spent £209 million on wages. Aston Villa (£194 million), Newcastle United (£187 million), Leicester City (relegated, £182 million), and financially struggling Everton (£159 million) complete the top ten.manchester united

On the other end of the Premier League wage table for the 2022-2023 season, Fulham (£90 million) and West London rivals Brentford (£99 million) are the only two clubs with squad wages below £100 million.

Notably, both of these clubs finished in the top half of the Premier League table in the previous season. Brentford finished in 9th place, while Fulham, the club with the lowest wage bill in the Premier League, impressively secured 10th place.premier-league-wages.png

The clubs ranked from 11th to 18th in the Premier League wage table are Nottingham Forest (£145 million), West Ham (£137 million), Brighton (£128 million), Crystal Palace (£124 million), Leeds United (relegated, £121 million), Wolves (£121 million), Southampton (relegated, £113 million), and Bournemouth (£100 million). The total wage bill for all 20 Premier League clubs combined is £3.8 billiоn, with half of that amount coming from the Big Six Premier League clubs.
