‘They see things before it happens on the pitch and always seem to be so calm’ – Bellingham talks Real Madrid role of Modric and Kroos

Real Madrid has a midfield predicament that offers both advantages and disadvantages. Carlo Ancelotti’s team has too many players for four starting places, and the manager has had to keep track of everyone’s minutes.

While the lack of minutes for some youngsters, such as Arda Guler, is a disadvantage, the presence of veterans like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the squad allows the younger players to refine their abilities and take strides in the right direction.

Overall, the club benefits from a healthy mix of young players and veterans, which helps to develop a healthy environment behind the scenes.

In a recent interview with the media (h/t Madrid Zone), Real Madrid star boy Jude Bellingham revealed who of his veteran colleagues he most admired: Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

“Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić play very different games. They see things before they happen on the field and always appear to be so calm,” he remarked, emphasizing that their decision-making was always spot on.

He was then questioned about his function on the field at Real Madrid, particularly given the variety of midfield positions he has played over the years.

“During my three years at Dortmund, the first year I played more like a No.6. The last two years have been more like a No. 8. This year, it’s been like a No.10.

“I believe people are attempting to define my role and give it a definite title. “I think it’s just a free-roaming midfielder,” he explained.

Bellingham plays as an offensive midfielder for Los Blancos, although even for the English National Team, he is deployed in a deeper position. Needless to say, his adaptability is a critical component that will propel him to success.
