In the last game of the NBA regular season, the Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 132-122 thanks to an outstanding performance from Payton Pritchard. Pritchard nearly recorded a triple-double with a career-best performance that included a career-high 38 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds. With 15 of 21 field goal attempts, he demonstrated remarkable efficiency.Just two days prior to this outstanding performance, he had scored 31 points, which was his previous career high, against the Charlotte Hornets.
In addition to Pritchard’s outstanding performance, the Celtics received contributions of 26 points from Svi Mykhailiuk and 19 points and 9 rebounds from Neemias Queta.Wizards forward Jared Butler scored 22 points and team captain Eugene Omoruyi scored 26. With an early 34-30 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 69-59 lead at halftime thanks to an 8-0 run capped by a clutch 3-pointer by Pritchard, Boston was in complete control of the game. With a 107-89 advantage entering the fourth quarter, the Celtics cruised to a comfortable win, continuing their second-half domination.The victory brought the Celtics’ regular season record to 64-18, good enough to earn them the Eastern Conference’s top seed. After the play-in tournament, they will now wait to find out who they will face in the first round of the playoffs.
