French superstar Kylian Mbappe has concluded his three-day visit to Cameroon, the African nation of his father’s origin. The 24-year-old forward arrived to an ecstatic reception from fans, with many sporting jerseys of his Paris Saint-Germain team.
During his visit, Mbappe toured a school sponsored by his foundation for renovation and received a warm welcome from the residents of his father’s village on Djelabe island. He also visited the family home, currently under construction, which holds significant roots for the talented striker. At the Bonendale school, Mbappe delighted excited children by signing numerous soccer shirts. Unfortunately, the planned match between Mbappe and the Cameroonian club FC Vent d’Etoudi was canceled due to security concerns.
Mbappe’s visit to Cameroon comes at a time when there are ongoing questions about his future at Paris Saint-Germain. While he stated that he would not extend his contract with the club, which expires next year, Mbappe expressed a desire to remain for one final season. PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi emphasized that Mbappe must sign a new contract if he wishes to continue with the club. Since joining PSG in 2017, Mbappe has established himself as one of the world’s top players, and his next move in the current transfer window will be closely watched.
